Plugjam presents its first ever artist showcase; an evening of Cardiff’s rawest and most exciting upcoming alternative rap talent.
Firstly from neighbouring Caerphilly, BOYO takes centre stage. Loud, prickly and entirely self-produced; Boyo made big ripples last year when he dropped In a Minute, Now: a statement piece which rightly blew up for its distinct Valleys voice, humour and undeniable brilliance. The artist himself is a character ripped from the biggest personalities of hip-hop, punk rock, and R’n’B; rolled through sordid gutter patter. These live shows are infamous for their raucous energy, and are absolutely not to be missed.
Coming through in the next generation, BIM BOSSOVICH has set listener’s ears and journo’s pens alight with a slew of magnetic performances at our open mics and open stages around the city. Sardonic, tongue-in-cheek, but often thoughtful and hopeful; Bim as a rhymesmith works the universe between chaos and soothing meditations. His performance this month comes in celebration of his latest album; a moody and murky trip through 140 rhythms.
SKYN are an experimental rap-fusion duo from Cardiff bringing sunshine to the lives of gentle folk like you and me; paying tribute to their Celtic and Hispanic heritage via romantic lyricism and explorative beats. With a touching knack for storytelling, SKYN have made serious impressions on the Cardiff music community with sweeping messages of love, passion and social consciousness.
