Information

Writing folk and country inspired hooks wrapped in psychedelic melodies to stave off repeated existential crises, Emyr Sion is inspired by the barn-made West Coast music of the 1970's, and the elegiac music of modern alternative country.

Combining simple and organic instrumentals with deeply personal and often self-deprecating lyrics, Emyr Sion writes honestly and openly about his thoughts and feelings, translating into timid and listless vocals which squat heavily over sonically pleasing guitar riffs ranging from dreamy and psychedelic to country and folk, with the occasional sneaking distortion.

A writer and multi-instrumentalist, Emyr Sion plays a role in a number of Welsh-language projects, notably ARGRPH and Los Blancos. Now writing and recording under his own name, he is free to share his more honest and intimate experiences, his anxieties and mental health being frequent topics occasionally making for difficult listening but surprisingly frank against the reserved delivery, combining for light contemplation.
