Lesson No. 1 and Sgarab team up for a night of withering post-punk, boot-boy synth wave and neo-gothic absurdism at The Moon, with DJs til late. Ages 18+ Pay what you can - buy PWYC tickets from Skiddle or pay on the door (card/cash).
MARCEL WAVE: Debut Cardiff show for a band who release their debut album exactly one fortnight beforehand. Marcel Wave, a five-piece based in London since 2019, feature two ex-members of the great SAUNA YOUTH (Lindsay Corstorphine and Christopher Murphy), two ex-members of the great COLD PUMAS (Oliver Fisher and Patrick Fisher) and vocalist Maike Hale-Jones, who has done some spoken word stuff on Sauna Youth songs but steps up to official frontperson status here. ‘Something Looming’, released jointly by the Upset The Rhythm (UK) and Feel It (US) labels, is 12 songs of intensely catchy rockers taking cues from postpunk, garage and jangle-pop, with lyrics drawing on social realism and urban ennui. Marcel Wave Bandcamp
BRUXISM: Irreverent, gnarly-as-hell goth-punk from Bristol which gives more than a nod to the adjacent realms of dungeon synth and darkwave
PC WORLD: snarling boot-boy synth-punk via London / Australia, think Skinny Puppy with some bonus sophistication; palpable spite, bristling between fine-crafted arpeggios that fall up through the ceiling.
With them is Spain's SANTACRUZ, bringing live and fully tactile EBM to help sweat out the fear
DJs after: F.E.R and Beauty Parlour playing Body Music, New Beat, Post-Punk, at least one rubbish Pet Shop Boys edit? (free enty after the live acts)
This event is Pay What You Can; by buying a ticket online, you are supporting weirdo music in Cardiff. The more you give us, the more we can do in future! Buy yourself a ten pound ticket and receive download codes for the entire Sgarab Tapes back catalogue, including releases from Beauty Parlour, The Panama Papers, Megzbow and Vinegar Tom, and T Person.
